STUDIO R—M

STUDIO R—M works with writers at any stage of their process. We offer developmental editing for manuscripts that need greater structural clarity, thematic coherence, or a sharper understanding of what the work is trying to do — and how.

Our editorial process unfolds in three stages. We begin with a high-level reading of the manuscript as it currently exists, identifying its central concerns, strengths, and points of tension. Early feedback may include targeted revision exercises, designed to help the writer clarify intention and open the work.

Subsequent rounds move into closer structural and narrative development, followed by refinement and emphasis. The depth and specificity of feedback increase as the manuscript evolves.

Our approach is rooted in close reading and attention to how each unique narrative needs to function. We do not impose a singular method. We read what is there and help you understand what it is doing, what it could do, and where it falters.

STUDIO R—M is led by Kristil Rabideau, who holds degrees in literature and communications from Columbia University and universities in Sweden and France. She has worked with writers published in The New York Times, Newsweek, and other outlets, and runs LE MÉTRO, a newsletter exploring what we gain from literature. Her editorial practice draws on years of close engagement with literary form and a resulting intuitive understanding of when writing works.
